Grade 9 Student Creates Project Based on  The War Beneath

This arrived in my inbox the other day, and it absolutely blew me away.  A Grade 9 student used my book, The War Beneath, as the basis for her English project in school.  She created a diorama of Trieste City.  Here’s a schematic of the underwater city as it appears in the book:

Thanks to Leah W!  The lights are a beautiful touch!  The kelp adds so much to the setting as well.  Fantastic!  I can’t wait to see what you do for The Savage Deeps!

“Reading The Savage Deeps is like watching a movie … mesmerizing … Torpedos, mines, imploded subs, and bodies litter the ocean floor … Johnston is an author skilled in bringing life to his characters through dialogue, engaging readers’ emotions by their behaviors and thinking, and creating brilliant settings, all of which play out like scenes in a movie.” — Five Stars from Readers’ Favorite
