TSJ REVIEWS AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR
I had the good fortune to attend a screening last weekend as the guest of an old friend.
(No Spoilers)
The movie began at breakneck pace from the first frame and didn’t let up. Over two and a half hours long and it passed in a flash. I have been lukewarm on a few Marvel films, but this one is a solid culmination of numerous storylines interweaved through the Marvel Universe for the past decade or so. It is an ambition movie, full of action and heart and interspersed with surprisingly deep character moments.
This movie deserves every accolade it has received. It was great to see so many heroes interacting with each other and working in combinations that I could not have predicted. Of particular note is the villain, brought to life by Josh Brolin. He was motivated, calm and deadly vicious. Kudos to the writers/producers for balancing such an enormous cast and giving them all screen time and purpose. If you are a diehard Marvel fan, then you will love this film. If you are just a casual fan such as myself, you will also enjoy INFINITY WAR. It was just a grand old time at the movies. Grab your popcorn and enjoy the ride.
(I want to point out that this movie is extremely dark and might be too much for extremely young children. I usually provide a suggested age cut off at this point … but this one is tricky. Kids will want to go see their favorite heroes, but beware — bad things happen here.)
