Help Build the Byron Springbank Veterans Monument in London, Ontario, Canada

The Purpose
I previously posted about this initiative here.
Soon, located in the heart of Springbank Park in the South West neighbourhood of Byron in London, Ontario, there will be a monument dedicated to the Canadian military, both past and present. The purpose is to “Remember, Reflect, Preserve,” and I am assisting the committee with increasing awareness and asking our community in Byron and London — and all Canadians — to help raise funds.
In Byron, yearly Remembrance Day ceremonies take place in front of the Byron Royal Canadian Legion Branch. The events shut down Commissioners Road, which is a traffic hub in the area. The new monument will be in the adjacent park, at a roundabout that City Council has already donated, and the hope is that it will increase the size of the ceremony and help to bring new understanding for our military’s history and current and past peacekeeper activities. It will also bring more safety to the ceremony, away from traffic.
Here is the “plan” view, or the “bird’s-eye view” of the location:
The monument will, “… honour the dedication, sacrifice, and service of all men and women who have volunteered to serve with the Canadian Armed Forces … We are committed to ensuring that the contributions of these Veterans, whether in combat or support operations, whether on Canadian soil or abroad, are remembered and respected.”
Here is a reel showing the location and video of the future site of the monument. The reel was created using Instagram, uploaded to YouTube, and is embedded here:
From the official website:
“The Byron Springbank Veterans Monument will stand as a symbol of the human side of conflict. It not only commemorates those who made the ultimate sacrifice, but it also honours those who came home, started families and businesses, and created the building blocks upon which Canada was built. It will be a place where people can gather to learn about our history and honour the lives of those who served.
These stories must not be forgotten.
The Byron Springbank Veterans Monument appeals to us and calls on all of us to Remember, Reflect and Preserve the memories and legacies of those who built our nation.”
The Plan
The monument will feature Canadian military from past conflicts — The Boer War, WW1, WW2, Korea, Afghanistan — as well as a representation of our peacekeepers around the world. The figures will be outlines in stainless steel, so that as people walk around the monument, it will provide an illusion of motion.
