The Battle of The Atlantic Memorial in London, Ontario:  Construction Update

Artist Rendering

Today, on 11 November 2024, I’m thinking about those who gave their lives to protect our freedom and way of life.

Lest we forget.

Work is moving forward on the Battle of the Atlantic memorial here in London.  See pictures of the ongoing construction in the post.

I previously wrote about the memorial here and here.  For a quick refresher, watch my reel at YouTube, embedded here:

Here are the plans and artist renderings, which are from the memorial’s official site:

Now, construction crews have broken ground and work is underway.  Concurrent efforts to collect donations continue.  There are multiple ways to donate if you’d like to help memorialize the Canadians who lost their lives in the Battle of The Atlantic, from 1939-1945.  This includes those in service in the air, water, and merchant sailors. The casualties include 2,000 Royal Canadian Navy sailors, 1,600 Canadian merchant sailors, and 752 Canadian Air Force personnel.

The pictures here were captured on 11 October 2024:

The goal is to have the grand unveiling at the 80th Anniversary of the end of the battle:  May, 2025.  More details on that to follow.  The location of the memorial is at HMCS Prevost, located in London, Ontario, Canada, here at the forks of the Thames River:

Thanks to everyone for helping the effort.  For assisting the committee, donating funds or work time, and purchasing products to support the memorial — it is all greatly appreciated.  The families of those lost will have a place to visit, see the names engraved in the large panels, and remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to defeat tyranny.

Lest we forget.
