The grand unveiling has happened.

All across Canada, RCN bases observed the 80th anniversary of the end of the Battle of the Atlantic. On 4 May 2025, the memorial in London, Ontario was unveiled to the public.

In my hometown, a committee has been raising funds and coordinating the enhancing/building of the new site to memorialize the thousands of Canadians who gave their lives in the Atlantic to defeat tyranny during WW2.  I have been proudly working with the committee for the past year to assist in messaging and donation efforts.  Now, the memorial is finished.  Here are some photos; the CTV news story is further down:

Thank you to everyone who has donated to the memorial or has provided work on the enhanced project.  Find more information here:

Working with the committee has been an amazing experience. It was one of the most rewarding efforts of my life.  I also had the absolute honour of writing the text for the Canadian Merchant Navy panel, which I will post here in the near future.

The new memorial is solemn, beautiful, and profound.  Thousands of Canadians gave their lives in the battle from 1939 – 1945.  Now there is a place for nearby families to lay wreaths, visit, and to remember.

Lest we forget.
