What Did You Think of Project Hail Mary?

This might be the first blockbuster of the year, and it releases today, Friday 20 March 2026.
I am curious what casual moviegoers think of it. I have not yet seen it, and nor have I read the book, though I plan to do so. Reviews, so far, are glowing. On Rotten Tomatoes, it currently has a 95%. According to Variety, projections are looking at a domestic take at around $65 million this weekend, which is pretty darn great, though the budget was $200 million before advertising. It will need to make at least $500 million in order to turn a profit.
The IMDB listing describes it as thus:
Science teacher Ryland Grace wakes up alone on a spaceship light-years from Earth. As his memory returns, he uncovers a mission to stop a mysterious substance killing the sun, and save Earth. An unexpected friendship may be the key.

Looking forward to this movie!! Lots of hype, hope it delivers!
Great book and I’m curious to see how the movie adaptation goes . Will be seeing soon . Don’t know about Ryan Gosling in the role but maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised
If Ryan Gosling is in it, I will totally see the movie!
Nice to see Canadians owning Hollywood!
Ryan Gosling was born in London (where I live), and he is very well regarded by Londoners. I am rooting for him, and this film.
