A Sign to Follow and Read Timothy S. Johnston
(What follows is a picture journal with a video of the finished product at the end of the article. Enjoy!)
I wanted to purchase a sign for my office …
… that represented my brand, my writing, my blog, and my love for the Science Fiction, Thriller, Mystery, Horror, and Suspense genres. I wanted it to be black, backlit, and appear behind me when I’m on video calls at my desk.
Those were the goals.
The sign has now been purchased, delivered, unboxed, and installed. See below:
I chose a company located in Ontario, Canada named Daloutier. This was not a paid endorsement. I chose a matte black paint. The cost of my sign was less than $125.00 and shipping was free in Ontario. The LED lights were attached to the reverse of the sign and included a USB remote control attachment. The guys at Daloutier worked with me (via email) on the brackets and how best to attach the sign to the above shelf.
Here I am showing the sign’s eventual location. This is a screenshot from the below video.

At night, when the LEDs are on for both the scale models that I’ve created as well as for the sign, it looks like this:
