The 2026 Academy Award Nominations

The OSCAR nominations for the 98th Academy Awards are in. The show will broadcast live on 15 March 2026 from Los Angeles.

They are listed below. How do they compare to my list of the best films of the year? Sinners received sixteen nominations — an OSCAR record for one film. I placed Sinners as the second best film of the year. One Battle After Another has thirteen nominations; I did not put this film in my list. Frankenstein, Weapons, F1, Train Dreams also scored nominations, which I had in my “best of” list, while Nuremberg and A House of Dynamite did not.

Regarding Weapons, I expect Amy Madigan will win the award for Best Supporting Actress. “Aunt Gladys” was a unique and terrifying role, and a character we will likely see in future movies.
