TSJ and the “Covid Cut”

The “Covid Cut”

I’ve been quarantining with my family since March 13.  I’ve barely gone out as we all wait for The Pause to end.  I’ve been focusing on writing another book in The Rise of Oceania, along with watching a hell of a lot of news.  I have a lot to say about what we’re living through, but will put my thoughts in a future article. ***

Today’s post is lighter.  It’s not about doom and gloom and death.

It’s about my hair.

I’m used to getting a cut every two to three weeks.  It’s been seven weeks since my last one, and things were getting unruly.  Like many of you, I was rocking the “Quarantine Hair.”  I looked disheveled.  Unkempt.  But all that changed this weekend, thanks to my daughters.

Their instructions:  make me human again.  Use clippers and scissors.  Here are the results.  I am happy with them, and I do feel better.  Now, back to work!

*** (You see, for the past three decades, I’ve done a great deal of research on pandemics, both past and predicted, and have taught Richard Preston’s The Hot Zone, about the link between an environment under pressure to emerging diseases affecting the human population, to many students.  So yes, I have much to say.  Stay tuned.)

“Reading The Savage Deeps is like watching a movie … mesmerizing … Torpedoes, mines, imploded subs, and bodies litter the ocean floor … Johnston is an author skilled in bringing life to his characters through dialogue, engaging readers’ emotions by their behaviors and thinking, and creating brilliant settings, all of which play out like scenes in a movie.” — Five Stars from Readers’ Favorite
