Is Miramax Making Another Halloween Movie?

Dark Horizons is reporting this news, and today I’m featuring it here at Life After Gateway.
In 2023, Miramax signed a deal with Halloween rights holder, Malek Akkad and Trancas International Films, to create a TV series based on the universe that has now spanned thirteen films. The original intent was a series and more films. That TV series has not crystalized, however, and instead DH is reporting that a film is now in the early stages of development, citing Horror Film News, which is a site that doesn’t currently seem active.
This news doesn’t mean that a TV series is not coming. It just means a film is the first project to materialize.
The Halloween Franchise
The most recent Halloween films, spearheaded by director David Gordon Green, experienced moderate success and featured the return of Jamie Lee Curtis. The first currently has a score of 6.5/10 and 188,000 votes on IMDB, but the third of this new trilogy, Halloween Ends, was mostly disliked by moviegoers. On IMDB, it currently has a 5/10 rating with 83,000 votes.
It makes sense that a new series of movies would arrive; after all, the first film was one of the progenitors of the slasher genre and also one of the most successful independent films of all time. Horror fans love this franchise.

Halloween was a watershed movie in 1978. It is notable for being one of the first slasher films (along with Black Christmas), and it also was a film that launched many careers: Carpenter began a steady stream of directing projects, the next being The Fog, and he became known as “The Master of Horror,” and Jamie Lee Curtis starred in The Fog and soon became known as “The Scream Queen.” Further, cinematographer Dean Cundey, who worked on many of Carpenter’s earlier films, experienced a career explosion as well. He eventually worked on many huge Hollywood blockbusters, including Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park, Zemeckis’s Back to the Future II and III, and Ron Howard’s Apollo 13.
The Halloween logline from IMDB:
Fifteen years after murdering his sister on Halloween night 1963, Michael Myers escapes from a mental hospital and returns to the small town of Haddonfield, Illinois, to kill again.
The list of films is impressive; I have colour coded based on series continuity.
