The Savage Deeps by TSJ wins 2020 CYGNUS Award

Last Saturday evening, I watched via Zoom as The Savage Deeps achieved First in Category in the 2020 CYGNUS Awards.  I want to express my gratitude to the judges, organizers, my readers, fans, family, and friends.

Publisher Fitzhenry & Whiteside has acquired the series and has just released the third book, Fatal Depth.   Moreover, the fourth in the series is out this Fall and I couldn’t be more excited.  I love writing these exciting technological sci-fi thrillers.  Sharon Fitzhenry, Holly Doll, and Sonya Gilliss at Fitzhenry & Whiteside, Ltd. have given me an incredible opportunity:  I am telling a grand story about climate change, family ties, destiny, future resource exploitation, and the conflict that follows.  This is a near future that I foresee happening:  the pressures of exploding populations and the thirst for new resources — exacerbated by climate change — are going to drive the superpowers to search out new resources and food stocks, causing a new Cold War.  History has shown that the need for resources causes conflict, and our future will surely follow this precedent, especially as the oncoming climate chaos hits the surface nations.

Thank you to everyone for supporting me, buying and reading my work, and your ongoing enthusiasm about my writing.  It all means so, so much, and I promise I will keep you on the edge of your seats!

“It’s an SF techno-thriller that opens with a tidal wave of action (literally!) and never lets up. Indeed, Fatal Depth is an unpretentious, hugely entertaining read set in a vividly realized and all-too-plausible future world.
